Are You Growing Up in Christ? | Hebrews 5:1–14 | Hold Fast — Message 9
Jesus is our perfect High Priest. He understands our weaknesses, represents us before God, and provides eternal salvation. But are we growing spiritually mature enough to appreciate who he is and what he’s done?
In Hebrews 5:1–14, the writer explains why we need a high priest, why Jesus is the perfect High Priest, and then unexpectedly challenges believers who have stopped growing in their faith.
As followers of Jesus, we’re also called to serve as God’s royal priesthood—learning his Word, putting it into practice, and gently helping others grow.
Bottom Line: Jesus is our perfect High Priest. Growing disciples learn to trust him, become like him, and lead others to do the same.
Three key questions:
1. Am I continuing to grow in my understanding of God’s Word?
2. Is what I’m learning about Jesus changing how I live?
3. Who am I helping grow toward spiritual maturity?
“Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity…” — Hebrews 6:1 (NIV)

A disciple follows Jesus, becoming like him and leading others to do the same.
